BIAW’s beloved Brenda Kwieciak announces retirement

May 6, 2024

After celebrating her 30th Anniversary with the Building Industry Association of Washington, Administrative Services Director Brenda Kwieciak has announced her plans to retire from the association on July 31, 2024.

Brenda Kwieciak: A career of contributions

Kwieciak joined the BIAW staff as receptionist in 1993 at a time when the association had only 4,600 members. Throughout her career, Brenda has held many roles, including managing the publication of more than 300 issues of Building Insight.

Since her promotion to Administrative Services Director, Brenda has managed all of BIAW’s board meetings, awards programs and special events. She’s also played an important role as BIAW builds a new more user-friendly website for its members and the public.

“It’s impossible to encapsulate in a simple email all that Brenda has done for this organization, or all that she has meant to those with and for whom she’s worked,” said Executive Vice President Greg Lane. “Fortunately, we’ll have a number of weeks, and many opportunities, leading up to Brenda’s last day to show her how much we appreciate her.”

Many milestones

During Brenda’s time at BIAW, she celebrated many personal milestones. She married BIAW lobbyist and former ROII director, Tom Kwieciak, and together they raised two children.

Tom and Brenda have built a new home in Utah where they look forward to spending time after Brenda retires.

BIAW is recruiting an events manager to train under Brenda until her retirement, and while this new employee will take over many of Brenda’s duties, it will be impossible to replace her.

Congratulations, Brenda, on a wonderful career. BIAW, its members and all your friends will miss you!
