Build Your Career With Us

The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is the voice of the residential construction industry in the state of Washington, representing nearly 8,000 home builders, remodelers and their associates.

As one of the largest home building associations in America, BIAW champions the rights of our members and fights for affordable homeownership at all levels of government.

Why Work Here?

With roughly 40 employees, BIAW works hard to serve our members and supports teamwork across the office. Whether it’s annual holiday gatherings, bonding days at the Tacoma Rainiers, staff celebrations, trivia night, or summer barbecues on our deck, we like spending time together and BIAW supports that.

Three times a year, staff have the chance to support our board meetings all around the state, giving us the chance to enjoy Washington’s natural beauty and have fun with members and staff from our 14 local associations.

Meet The Team

It’s a well-known fact that people don’t leave jobs, they leave management. BIAW’s Management—from the executive to the department level—is exceptional. Of course we were all hired to do our core positions, but BIAW truly values professional development. I love learning and growing so working for an organization that supports my development is important to me.

Andrea Smith, Policy & Research Manager

The high-spirited and positive staff, the continuous opportunities to learn new skills to progress at my job and as a person, and the everlasting encouragement to think outside the box of ways to help our members navigate the complex workers’ compensation system.

Logan Gillihan, ROII Claim Representative

BIAW is a great place to work because the atmosphere is electric. I have never worked in a place with more passion and drive to serve members in every way possible. Having been in the industry for over five years, it is rewarding to work in different aspects of making homeownership more affordable.

Andy Arrants, Education Manager

I have worked at BIAW for more than two decades. The reason why? The people. We have such a diverse staff with all sorts of talents and personalities. Nobody is treated any differently. From our fearless leader to our department managers and everyone in between. Everyone takes pride in their position and is always willing to go above and beyond no matter the task.

Brenda Kwieciak, Association Services Director
