BIAW launches series of codes classes statewide

The Building Industry Association of Washington has launched a series of codes classes statewide to help educate builders and remodelers on significant changes to the codes going into effect July 1, 2023.
Taught by longtime codes experts, the courses will share the significant changes the State Building Code Council adopted and the new requirements the industry needs to meet to comply.
This class covers:
- International Residential Code
- International Mechanical Code
- International Wildland-Urban Interface Code with Washington amendments
- Washington State Energy Code- Residential

About the instructors
Daimon Doyle, Council Vice Chair of the State Building Code Council: A highly respected building industry from the Olympia Master Builders, past BIAW President and Life Director for the National Association of Home Builders, Doyle has worked in the residential construction industry for more than 30 years.
Jim Breidenbach, BIAW Field Representative: Breidenbach has been in the residential construction industry for over 40 years, including owning a remodeling business for 28 years.
Ted Clifton, Clifton View Homes/Zero Energy Home Plans: Clifton has been a designer and builder for more than 45 years. Educated at Berkeley, California, Ted has worked in every phase of construction and knows first-hand what it takes to design and construct a quality home.
Ty Jennings, Building Code Specialist, Cascade Natural Gas: Former Plans Examiner and Building Inspector for the City of Richland active in a number of International Code Council committees, Jennings has been actively involved in adoption of the 2021 code with deep knowledge and understanding of how the code affects the building industry.
Annie O’Rourke: After spending a dozen years performing plan reviews and building inspections for the City of Portland and Clallam County, Annie O’Rourke established a building design and code consulting business on the Olympic Peninsula. Since 2014, she has been working with the Peninsula Housing Authority as their Director of Development. She is an active, long-term member of the IRC Technical Advisory Group for the State Building Code Council.
