Support energy choice this Friday

BIAW members have two opportunities to support energy choice this Friday before the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC). The final public hearing on Group 1 codes (IBC, IFC, WSEC-Commercial) is from 10 am – 4 pm. on Friday, March 11, in virtual format.

Support energy choice in multi-family buildings

If you feel inclined to support energy choice and join the opposition to restricting natural gas in multi-family buildings under the International Building Code, please consider signing up to testify and/or submitting written testimony.

The SBCC will not consider written or oral comments made in Fall 2021  as part of the Group 1 Code adoption process. If you submitted comments in Fall 2021 and want them to be included in the public record, please re-submit or sign-up to provide testimony.

Extend delayed prohibition on gas fireplaces with continuously burning pilot lights

The SBCC will also hear virtual testimony on the prohibition on gas fireplaces with continuously burning pilot lights within the 2018 Washington State Energy Code, Residential provisions (WAC 51-11R, Section R403.1.3),  You can provide written testimony to sbcc@des.wa.gov until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
