Background

The Residential Construction micropathway at Seattle Central’s Wood Technology Center, offered in the evenings and on weekends, provides a pipeline of talent to the residential construction industry.

Structured around the NAHB Home Builders Institute (HBI) Residential Construction Academy, the program trains new residential carpenters. It also provides formal, accelerated training for workers already on the job.

The program schedules class time around common working hours to support adults seeking career transitions, especially people of color, women, and other historically under-represented populations. Both the schedule and the curriculum help students enter and advance in the residential construction workforce.

Upon successful completion, graduates are ready to take the exam in NOCTI Certification in Residential Carpentry, Basic or Advanced.
