Inslee: Three counties to revert to Phase 2

April 12, 2021

Gov. Jay Inslee today announced three counties (Pierce, Cowlitz and Whitman) were rolling back to Phase 2 because they did not meet the Governor’s metrics for Phase 3.

According to the Governor’s news release, on April 9, he announced the following updates to the Healthy Washington criteria:

  1. In order to move down one phase, a county must fail both metrics for case counts and hospitalizations. Under the previous plan, a county only needed to fail one metric to move back a phase.
  2. New guidance on spectator events makes clear what is allowed for counties in Phase 2 and how these events are related to school graduation ceremonies.
  3. New guidance on Open Air Seating allows flexibility for eating and drinking establishments.

The next review of metrics will be May 3.
