April 29, 2024 | 9 am to 1 pm

“Using Contracts & Law to Protect Your Assets” offers a comprehensive exploration of the legal, financial and managerial aspects present in the building industry. This course covers topics such as contract formation, interpretation, performance and dispute resolution. Participants will examine various types of construction contracts, including fixed-price, cost-plus, and design-build agreements, while also exploring the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders such as owners, contractors, subcontractors and architects. By the end of the course, participants will emerge with a working knowledge of the legal frameworks and contractual mechanisms essential for success in the building industry.

In taking this course, you will become familiar with several contract terms and aspects, such as:

  • Pre-lien notices
  • Lien filings
  • Lien releases
  • Performance

Understanding basic contract law doesn’t need to be intimidating. This course provides a step-by-step explanation of how a contract can sustain positive customer and supplier relations, provide for dispute resolution, and minimize the risk of litigation.
