“Using Contracts & Law to Protect Your Assets” offers a comprehensive exploration of the legal, financial and managerial aspects present in the building industry. This course covers topics such as contract formation, interpretation, performance and dispute resolution. Participants will examine various types of construction contracts, including fixed-price, cost-plus, and design-build agreements, while also exploring the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders such as owners, contractors, subcontractors and architects. By the end of the course, participants will emerge with a working knowledge of the legal frameworks and contractual mechanisms essential for success in the building industry.

Previously with the Kitsap Building Association as Membership and Communications Director, Andy Arrants joined BIAW as digital production manager in January 2021. He moved into the Education Manager position in the spring of 2022. In 2023, Andy became an NAHB Certified Instructor to serve our members further. He has over ten years of experience in education, communications, public relations, and video and audio production in the non-profit sector.
