Remembering BIAW Past President Monty Smith

BIAW Past President Monty Smith of M.C. Smith Construction in Ferndale passed away Sunday, Dec. 10. Monty was a beloved member of the BIAW and Building Industry Association of Whatcom County family. He served as BIAW president in 2015, then suffered a stroke in 2016 and his family recently shared he’d been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

BIAW leaders and staff have fond memories of his leadership and we all share our deep condolences with his friends and family during this difficult time.

His family has scheduled his Celebration of Life for 11:30 am on Jan. 27, 2024 at the Bellingham Ferry Terminal.
