Juli Bacon BIAW Instructor

Juli Bacon

Juli Bacon, owner of JB Consulting Systems, and Bacon Maintenance Services, is driven by her competitive nature and a desire to affect change. Bacon works to achieve results and has a passion for helping small businesses succeed through strategic planning and goal setting. She is a nationally recognized speaker and recently published author of Six-Word Lessons on HR Practices for a Productive Workforce. In 2013, Juli was recognized as the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Woman of the Year. She was also named BIAW Associate of the Year in 2005 and received BIAW’s Builder Appreciation Award in 2017.

 

Jim Breidenbach BIAW Instructor

Jim Breidenbach

Jim has been involved in the residential construction industry for over 40 years. During 28 of those years, he owned a remodeling business in the greater Spokane area and was a member of the Spokane Home Builders Association, a BIAW-affiliated local association. Jim currently serves as a field representative for BIAW’s retro group, R.O.I.I.® Select, visiting with member participants to help them develop and implement effective safety programs and strategies.

Travis Brock

Travis Brock is an accomplished safety professional with over 15 years of safety experience. Brock has earned many designations and certifications, including a construction safety specialist designation, University of Washington and associate safety professional and certified health and safety technician, Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Brock currently serves on several trade associations’ safety committees, including the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington, Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, and previously served as Business co-chair of the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) Construction Advisory Committee.

 

Ted Clifton BIAW Instructor

Ted Clifton, CGB, MCGP

Ted Clifton, owner of Clifton View Homes, Inc. and Zero-Energy Plans, LLC, has been in the home building industry for over 45 years. As a custom home builder and designer, Clifton is a leader in the green building movement, earning over 24 US Department of Energy awards during the past several years. He is a recipient of 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Energy Value Housing Awards (EVHA); 2011 EVHA Remodeler of the Year; and 2009, 2011, 2012 National Green Building Award winner. He currently serves as a National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) director and a member of NAHB Education and Energy and Green Building sub-committees.

 

Diane Glenn BIAW Instructor

Diane Glenn, CAPS

Diane Glenn has spent her entire adult career working in the construction industry. She works in Washington and other western states to meet the needs of the contractors and project owners seeking higher quality in their construction practices by offering various inspection services, builder consulting services and training. As owner of Construction Consultants of Washington, Glenn works closely with builders to assure quality projects and compliance with building codes, regulations, and the Condominium Act. She teaches classes and presents seminars on a variety of industry-related topics, including building codes. Glenn also serves on the Washington State Building Code Council as council chair.

 

Karen Hall BIAW Instructor

Karen Hall

Karen Hall currently serves as BIAW membership manager. Hall has been teaching training seminars on various topics, such as startup networking, marketing, advertising, and social media to small business owners for over 20 years. Since 2013, she has coordinated BIAW’s annual Accessible Housing Trade Show, assisting with advertising and marketing. In 2017, the trade show received NAHB’s Best State Association Membership Event award. Hall also is an instructor for the Washington Department of Labor & Industries Contractor Training Days.

 

 

Joseph Irons BIAW Instructor

Joseph Irons, GMR, GMB, CGR, CAPS, CGP

Joseph Irons, president and general manager of Irons Brothers Construction, Inc., developed his interest in the home building industry at a young age. This long and extensive immersion in the industry helped structure his business into a nationally award-winning company. He has earned several designations from NAHB, including Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Remodeler, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, and Certified Green Professional. He has also received the highest designation in remodeling, the NAHB Graduate Master Remodeler. For nearly a decade, Irons has been an education instructor, using his experience to teach, mentor, and guide industry professionals.

 

Chris Keefer BIAW Instructor

Chris Keefer

With over 20 years experience as an attorney, Chris Keefer has been developing legal and risk management strategies with businesses worldwide. As an expert in preventive law, Keefer works with clients to identify transactional, supply chain, real estate, employment, cybersecurity, litigation, and insurance settings. Keefer has presented nationally on preventive law and helped develop curriculum for the University of Notre Dame and UCLA School of Law.

Larry and David Linville, Linville Law Firm, is a close-knit firm in downtown Seattle which provides legal services to contractors, owners, developers, suppliers, architects, and engineers. Northwest Independent Contractors Association (NICA)

NICA provides training to contractors for most safety topics required by the Department of Labor & Industries, Division of Safety and Health. BIAW has been a longtime partner with NICA to provide top-quality instruction on a variety of topics that are vital to the home building industry. NICA was awarded the State of Washington, Department of Labor & Industries, Safety and Health Investments Projects Grant in 2008 and 2011. Dave Porter BIAW Instructor

Dave Porter, CAPS, CMP, CGP

Dave Porter, Porterworks Sustainable Solutions, has been involved in the real estate and mortgage lending for more than 35 years. Porter has been a marketing and finance expert, trainer, and business coach for more than 25 years. He is a nationally recognized speaker, trainer, and writer. In addition to teaching classes for BIAW, he also is an instructor for NAHB, the National Association of Realtors, and the Mortgage Bankers Association.

 

 

 

Bob White BIAW Instructor

Bob White

Bob White currently serves as safety services director for BIAW’s retro group, R.O.I.I.® Select, and has been serving the members of BIAW since 1999. White can be frequently found traveling throughout the state meeting with member companies and teaching them how to avoid costly worker injuries and potential safety violations.

 

 

 

Alex Zimmerman BIAW Instructor

Alex Zimmerman

Alex Zimmerman, president of Creative Courses, brings over 20 years of large scale construction experience to Erosion and Sediment Control training. From large disturbance, linear, and single-family construction to restoration and emergency landslide repair, his skills add to informative training on real-world compliance issues for construction site operators, inspectors, and designers. Course participants learn how to control costs, prevent erosion, protect water quality, and comply with permit requirements in a positive, proactive, profitable manner.
